Rock the Spring trends

Spring/Summer 2013 has some awesome new(well repeated) trends blossoming in the store windows. I personally like a lot of the S/S hits, including lace, A line, the modern edgy floral and the monochrome revamp. The problem is so many of these looks are way too feminine for an edgy girl like me, so I have to add a bit of hardness to them. This is actually done pretty easily. Here are some examples..

Sweet and Soft is really in ie: pastels, floaty fabrics, and feminine cuts. Now, I could never pull this off myself, if you asked my partner if I was graceful and feminine he would probably laugh in your face. The thing is, I want to be able to wear it so here's what I would do...


                   Take a flowy feminine shirts like this CK piece and add a denim jacket, fun jeans and boots

   

For the Lace Look, harden up the material with a boxy biker jacket and stand out shoes.

Don't be afraid to mix different shades of the same color

The Oscars 2013

The Oscars 2013. Best and worst dressed...

So I am currently watching the Oscars right now and man is it long! I don't really have time for this, although I can't seem to pull myself away, plus Jennifer and Argo just won an award! I always find the "in memory" part so sad, and cry like a baby over people I don't know (I know pathetic right).

Onto the dresses! Well as we all know white is very in for S/S13 so clearly the actresses stylists thought that they all needed to look like they were getting married (or remarried). Secondly I am so so not into the tiny boob cups and missing fabric from the top half of the chest. What is with that? It looks so bad, like a bad strapless bra that won't stay up!

Here's some of the best...

 I didn't mind the white theme on some, and actually loved Zoe Saldana's Alexis Mabille dress. It was kind of quirky and very detailed.

And Georgina Chapman looked stunning in white, almost ready to pop, in what I am assuming is Marchesa (she is the co-founder). Her dress was beautiful and she was glowing. 

             I also love Sandra Bullocks, lacey and 20's inspired Elie Saab dress. She looks really delicate and classy.

A few others to give some credit too were, Adele in Jenny Packham, Salma Hayek in McQueen. I loved Kelly Osbourne's Tony Ward dress as it did look like a beautiful night sky, but she didn't make it to my list due to the lacklustre hair and the tats, it just didn't work. Jane Fonda looked fab in her yellow Versace, and Hugh Jackman was my fav best man, in his Tom Ford suit, super sexy. Lastly, I had to throw in my absolute favorite actress ever, as she looked so elegant yet modern at the same time.. Meryl Streep I love you and you look fabulous in your metallic gown.



Here's some of the worst.....
Fails.... Anne Hathaway why oh why. A. Your hair style is so wrong B. Your dress is sooo shiny C. Just because its Prada does not mean its fabulous.

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu... Color= wrong, Cut=wrong and Hair=so wrong....

Olivia Munn in Marchesa. I usually love Marchesa but I am pretty sure my mum had curtains like this when I was younger and why is it so low on her chest??? I don't get it, She doesn't even have a big chest!!

Stripes and Studs

So I have owned this striped, cropped jacket from Bershka for a good few months now but totally forgot about it! Today I had several meetings, and went to a press conference so needed something smart but funky (of course). I thought what would be better that a cool, cropped jacket, thats when I found this baby lurking in my wardrobe. I got super excited and threw it on with my rocking studded booties and my new necklace. Win?

Willow oh Willow

For those of you that know me, you know that bags are my biggest obsession... I have no idea why its bags, but I literally have dreams about them, and go into a frenzy when I see one I want but can't have. This Mulberry Willow bag will not leave my mind.... I dream about it, I day dream about it, I drool over it... and sadly, I do not have it. Not only is it Grade A leather but comes in some amazeballs colors....

Dying over Cara

Cara Delevingne is so hot right now its ridic.... She somehow seemed to be in most of the fashion shows at NYFW and LFW? how is this possible?

I love her A. because she's a brit  B. because she's models for Victoria Secret and Burberry<3 and C. because she looks like a tomboy but can somehow transform into a top model.

A week of Outfits

Hey Welcome to my new blog!  I decided to restart my blog, calling it a different name of course for a "fresh start." I decided that since I am in the fashion business and pretty much spend everyday doing fashion related research or hands on work, I might as well share with you some of my style too! Now you may not like some of it, which is of course fine, after all I am confused about where I am from. After years of living in a ridiculous amount of places, and experiencing mind blowing amounts of different cultures and climates, I guess I would say I'm from a little bit of everywhere.

I am currently in the Middle East where fashion is a big deal! Here in the UAE people love to shop, and I mean LOVE to shop. There are malls the size of small countries and contain every store you could probably ever think of. So yeah thats right my friends, its paradise. 

When it comes to my personal style, I love to mix things up. I love mixing high end and high street, I love to be casual yet chic, urban yet classy and a lot of the time I like to be sexy and edgy.
