Marvelous Maxi's

Hi everyone, sorry for the long post between blogs but I had a big project I was working on and it was taking up all my time!!

This week I just have to talk about maxi dresses and skirts. Im not sure how you feel about them but I adore maxi everything. They can be chic yet comfortable, trendy yet relaxed, sexy yet demure..... LOVE. Maxi skirts and dresses are in all the stores right now, from solids to fun patterns and soft, layered fabrics.

My friend came to visit last week and we went a little maxi crazy, I bought a new mint green maxi skirt (which I'm sure will show up on here next week) and she bought a new coral one. I now (shamefully) own 5 maxi skirts and 4 maxi dresses, which I feel is still an acceptable amount? I have worn them for all different occasions... high waisted with a bra crop top for a night out, with sandals and a tucked in tank for the beach club, with a cover up and flashy jewels for a business meeting (a fashion business meeting of course, I don't want lawyers and bankers getting fired for showing up in their maxis:)

Check out some of my current favs I have found around town....

These first two are from asos.com, which FYI has soooo many to choose from and I love how they give you a full model photo so you can get ideas of how to wear them....

The next two are from Bershka which is where I have bought several of mine. They fit well, they are comfy, and their a bargain!!

This gorge dress is from Zara and could easily work with wedges for a more evening look.

Here are some maxi loving celebs, beautiful Blake, Jessica Alba (who wore maxis throughout her pregnancy), and the Queen of all Maxi's Rachel Zoe. I just love how Rachel can make any maxi look glamourous with her fun accessories.

And lastly.... me! In my super soft and comfy maxi dress

Do you like maxi's? how would you wear them?

My feet need these NOW

Shoes oh shoes, if only I could walk in a 6 inch heel then I would buy all of these!!! I get so sad that all the most beautiful heels are so high. Check out the latest and hottest shoes I have come across... (BTW I didn't purposely look for pink, it just happened there were a lot of cute pink ones:)

These first two are from Bershka and totally affordable. The light pink ones are perfect for making your legs look long and lean whilst the studded hot coral ones will make your outfit pop!

Moving on to these gorgeous pink and gold heels from... yep New Look! Can you believe it? they are so hot and actually look pretty expensive.

These next two are from Zara. I cannot tell you how much I love these blue and yellow patterned ones, they are so fun and would make any plain outfit look more interesting. The pink ones are just gorgeous with the platform and bow.

This beautiful and unique pair is from D&G. They are so fun and summery and I just love the tie on the ankle.. These ones will empty your pockets though, at almost $1k

Its all about Blue at Nine West right now and I am just drooling over the blue with the zebra heel, I might actually have to go and buy them. The electric blue sandals are also fab if you want to liven up a summer dress.

Saving the best for last... I literally almost passed out when I saw these Prabal Gurung F/W 13-14 collection heels. They are literally just to die for in every possible way. The buckles, the tassels, the material.... I have no words..Prabal has become one of my fav in the past year and If I wasn't having my wedding on the beach I would be wearing these.... just saying:)

Any shoes you guys are dying over? please share!!!!

A week of outfits

What I wear usually depends on my mood that day or something I'm obsessing over. The past week or so I have gone from preppy to funky, and worn a lot of white and red, which is unusual for me. I've done monochrome several times, which is clearly a look I'm obsessed with right now! I desperately want a striped maxi and I just can't get over studs, One can never have enough studs... As Rachel Zoe would say... I die

What have you guys been wearing?

Do you love it or hate it?

The trends buzzing around this Spring are either A. Amazing, B. Terrible or C. I really don't know if I love it or hate it?

Today I am talking about C. There are three trends that have been stuck in my mind.. They are all over pinterest and really driving me nuts, because I just cant decide if I totally love them or totally hate them.

1. Polka dot Jeans/pants..... Here's the thing, I like them but I just don't think they are flattering unless your a tiny skinny minny or have super long legs. I love patterned pants but girls with an ass and thighs like me can't wear big patterns as it makes us look bigger. The patterns need to be smaller and close together or we need to stick to solids. I definitely prefer the small dots (photo 2) to the big dots.
What do you guys think? Would you or have you bought some??

2. Colored Nail Tips- This trend I am definitely leaning more towards the hate side, but then I will see some that look kind of cool?!
The thing I don't get is if your going to paint the tip why not paint the rest? I mean its definitely easier to paint the whole nail that to carefully paint just the top! All I can think when I see these is how much better they would look if the whole nail was done!

3. Ombre Hair- Now I have seen this look amazing on some people, but I have only ever seen it look really good on people with darker skin. For example it really suits Khloe and Giuliana, but it just looks weird on Jess and Lauren. When you do it with blond hair it just looks like your color has been badly done instead of something intentional. Would you guys try it?

Island Hopping

Raffia is raging right now, its drenching the summer lines in straw, woven bags, big hats and lots of bright colors. Please no one tell my husband that this trend is in right now. He's been obsessing over Tommy Bahama for years and years..  Since he is only 30, instead of a 60 year old retired man, it is usually not allowed in his closet:) However the women's side has some pretty neat finds amongst the granny swim suits and sun lotion perfume, (check them out below). Dolce and Gabbana also went nuts for it during Milan fashion week, and have a whole page dedicated to it on their website. From my experience the two best, and somewhat affordable stores for this look are, Anthropologie and The Island Shop, they always have some fab island gear. For even more affordable stuff check out H&M and Zara.

This look can be worn pretty easily... mix maxi dresses or maxi skirts with woven bags and straw hats. Team linen pants with straw wedges and colorful headbands, or throw some multi-colored beads around your neck.
